Over at Building Fortunes Radio and Youmongus Radio, I just started working on promoting Edie Raether’s new book. On July 4th 2026, tragedy happened and it’s not concluded.
The short story is her son Tory J Raether, 55, was visiting Wyoming. A favorite spot. He did something he’s probably done dozens of times… jumped into the Snake River… but this time something happened, and he didn’t return to shore. As of this writing July 10 2026, he’s still missing. The story is explained here.
I don’t really know what to say, not sure what to do… kinda numb, and consuming… and I didn’t know Tory at all. Tory has a wife and three young adult children When you read through this story, you will like him and know his family is going through a challenging time.
I will support Edie and Tory’s Family with our Memories.news platform and everything else I can. Remembering Tory…
Updated 7/11/26 with a message from Edie Raether (Tory’s mom)
“Memorial Tribute for Tory — Your Voice, Your Truth “My son is home. Not in the way I prayed for, but in the way love now requires.” A life is measured not in years, but in the imprint it leaves on the hearts it touched. And Tory’s imprint is permanent. Tory lived with a kind of quiet brilliance — the kind that didn’t need to announce itself because it was felt. He was the steady presence, the gentle humor, the unexpected insight that arrived exactly when someone needed it. He carried a tenderness that made people feel safe, and a strength that made people feel seen. He loved deeply, without spectacle. He gave generously, without keeping score. He moved through the world with a sincerity that is rare and unforgettable. What I hold most is not the moments we lost, but the moments we had — the laughter that came too easily, the conversations that went too deep, the ordinary days that became extraordinary simply because he was in them. Tory is not gone. He is woven into the fabric of who I am, who we are, and who we will continue to become. His story is not finished; it lives on in every act of kindness, every spark of courage, every person who chooses compassion because he once showed them how. Today, we honor not only the son I loved, but the man he became — and the legacy he leaves in all of us.
I have attached my favorite pix of Tory and the last page of my book as it says it all. I will be having a metal sculpture made of it in his honor.
Some of you may have missed the link I had sent earlier. This is ONE week ago…..and he was living his dream in God’s Country……In micro-moments……that Joy was stolen Many of you previously received. Sorry for any duplicates!!!”
A song I have become fond of seems to fit here: The singer wrote this after his mom appeared in a dream, shortly after she passed.
